My Story

A Passion for Photography

Hi, I’m Sharon — a lifestyle and portrait photographer based in Sausalito, California. My love for photography began in a high school darkroom in Oregon and deepened years later as a new mom, camera in hand, capturing the fleeting beauty of everyday life.

Whether it’s a quiet glance, joyful laugh, or a moment of connection between loved ones, I’m drawn to the honest, human stories that unfold in front of my lens. Photography, for me, is about preserving the people and moments we never want to forget.

What Clients are Saying

  • I highly recommend Sharon Amy Photography! Sharon recently did professional headshots for my business and a special four-generation Mother’s Day family photo shoot. Both experiences were incredible. She made everyone feel at ease, from toddlers to great-grandparents, and captured genuine moments with such warmth and professionalism. My headshots came out polished and authentic, and the family photos are treasures we’ll cherish forever. Sharon has a true gift for seeing people and telling their story through her lens. If you're looking for a photographer who blends talent, heart, and professionalism, Sharon is it. Thank you, Sharon, for capturing such meaningful memories!

  • We had the opportunity to work with Sharon for our family photos during our recent vacation to Sausalito and we are obsessed with what she delivered. We own a wedding venue and get to work with photographers all the time so we knew what we wanted - someone that could capture raw and real moments. After reviewing a plethora of options, we agreed that if Sharon wasn’t doing the pictures we would opt not to do them at all. Well fast forward and we got the pictures back and they are perfection! She is an absolute dream to work with and captures real moments that are so authentic. We 10/10 recommend her and cannot wait to take pictures on our next family trip to Sausalito!

  • We used Sharon the last two years for our family photos, and she did a fantastic job. She does a great job of working with young children and getting them to open up for photos. My kids were very high energy during our shoot, but she had techniques to calm them down for photos. She gets a great mix of picture perfect family shots and also fun photos of kids just being themselves. This year's shots were the best our family has ever taken. Thank you Sharon!

  • I’ve had the pleasure of working with Sharon both professionally and personally. Professionally, working with Sharon is a joy! She blends right into the room and adds so much positive energy to the room. Sharon’s done an amazing job capturing beautiful and natural photos that I’ve been able to use on my website and on Instagram. Personally, Sharon’s done several photo sessions for our family of five (plus our dog!) and the kids absolutely love her, we all do! The photos always come out beautifully and what we appreciate the most is that Sharon makes the experience fun for our whole family. It feels like a fun family playdate to get photos done with Sharon! I’d highly recommend Sharon for both family and business photos and know you’ll love working with her as much as we do.

The Journey

From Darkroom to Digital

For as long as I can remember, I have had a passion for photography. I discovered it during my sophomore year of high school in Oregon, learning darkroom techniques with film. I fell in love with capturing people — their expressions, their energy, their stories.

After college, life took over, and it wasn’t until fifteen years later — as a new mother with a DSLR in hand — that I rediscovered my calling. Now I pour that same wonder into every session, whether it’s a newborn’s first days or a family reunion at Baker Beach.
